| DAI Honors Veterans with Free Admission on Nov. 11 |

The Dayton Art Institute will honor America's veterans with a free preview of the special exhibition American Chronicles: The Art of Norman Rockwell. |

On Friday, November 11, from 5 – 8 p.m., all veterans and one guest will receive free admission to American Chronicles. The exhibition opens to the public on Saturday, November 12. |

Working in partnership with Stivers School for the Arts, the museum will also show a video created by Stivers students, honoring World War II veterans, at 5 p.m. in the NCR Renaissance Auditorium. |

| DAI will also offer a membership discount to veterans and active-duty military on November 11. They will receive $10 off any new membership or renewal of a current membership expiring before December 31, 2011, if purchased in person at the museum on November 11. |

| Register Now for Tim Bowers Workshop on Nov. 19 |

| Meet children's book illustrator Tim Bowers on November 19! |

In conjunction with American Chronicles: The Art of Norman Rockwell, award-winning children's book illustrator and Ohio native Tim Bowers will present a talk and family workshop at the museum on Saturday, November 19, 1-3 p.m. |

| Learn about his process, the influence Norman Rockwell had on him, and how he uses the facial expressions of animals to tell a story in his illustrations. Families will then participate in a drawing workshop led by Tim. |

| Cost for museum members is: Adult and 1 child $25, each additional person $10. Cost for non-members is: Adult and 1 child $30, each additional person $12. |

One of Norman Rockwell's iconic civil rights painting, The Problem We All Live With, arrived at DAI from a special location: the White House, where it had been on display at the request of President Obama. The painting is featured in American Chronicles: The Art of Norman Rockwell. |

The museum's long-running Afternoon Musicales return this Sunday, November 6. Concerts are presented on select Sunday afternoons in the fall and winter, at 1:30 p.m. in the NCR Renaissance Auditorium. |

| Reminder: The Cafe Closed for Makeover; Reopens Nov. 6 |

Just a reminder that the museum's Cafe is closed this week for a facelift in preparation for American Chronicles: The Art of Norman Rockwell. The Cafe will reopen this Sunday, November 6, with an all-new look and a new menu that reflect the nostalgic Americana of Norman Rockwell's work. |

In addition to its regular lunch hours, the Cafe will also be open on Thursday evenings, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., during the run of American Chronicles, November 12 - February 5. On Thursday evenings, the Cafe will offer a variety of delicious small plate options, paired with selected wines and beer. |
